A year in the making, the epic musical shadow theater piece the Nothing Factory is now at last going to be available in CD/book format- with handprinted covers, the complete art & text of the show & soundtrack (recorded by Don Godwin of Impractical Cockpit/Hungry March Band/ athousandotherthings fame). To celebrate, we’ll be performing the whole thing for what may be the last time in a long while, along with very special guests Fence Kitchen and Color Is Luxury.

THE NOTHING FACTORY, presented by Puppet Uprising, is a 45-minute epic musical shadow theater experience. It uses shadow-puppetry, projections, hand-altered slides, giant cardboard puppets, painted banners, dramatic narration & a live avant-punk soundtrack to tell its dystopian allegory, the tale of a fictional world where everybody wanted everything, and noone was happy having nothing.

Story & songs by Reid Books, formerly/currently of West Philly ensembles Greetings from Urbania, International Anthems for Irrational Numbers & Vulgar Reasons.
Shadows & sets by Erik Ruin, puppeteer, printmaker & editor of the zine Trouble In Mind & the book Realizing the Impossible.
Narrative performance by Anissa Weinraub, of Liberty Cabbage Theater’s Olive on the Seder Plate.
Live rock soundtrack provided by the unlikely named Aetherial Underpants Orchestra- members of Red Devil and International Anthems for Irrational Numbers banging away subtly on drums, bass, percussive guitar, trumpet & bass clarinet.

COLOR IS LUXURY is the sublime electronics duo of Charles Cohen and Tyler Weaver.

FENCE KITCHEN is Mt. Airy’s Tim Harbeson (who did time in Maine rock/post bands Tarpigh and Cerberus Shoal) creating a cryptic and carnivalesque environment out of antique objects and strange sounds. Different every time yet never to be missed.
