PERFORMANCE INFO:

Project Capoeira, a Celebration of Afro-Brazilian Culture
Project Capoeira performs a colorful, crowd-pleasing repertoire of Afro-Brazilian dances that fuse rhythmic music with high-energy gymnastics and martial arts. The ensemble performs Capoeira, a unique Brazilian form that incorporates acrobatics, dance, percussion and songs in a rhythmic dialogue of body, mind and spirit. Originated centuries ago by Africans slaves in Brazil, Capoeira served as a means to secretely practice fighting techniques and was used effectively as a deadly weapon against the colonizers.

Project Capoeira, Inc is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization devoted to the preservation of Capoeira and offers year-round Capoeira classes for children and adults at The Philadelphia Capoeira Arts Center. www.phillycapoeira.com
