:: A Tournament for Musicians ::
▼ THE BASICS ▲
This competition will feature 8 performers competing over the course of 3 rounds, with a limit of 3 minutes per performance, in front of a panel of 3 judges. The 8 contestants will register online, and then pay a fee of $15 each (in cash, on-site), to vie for a 1st Place grand prize of $100 and a booking at an upcoming local event, such as “The META: Creative Homely Gatherings”. The performer who ranks at 2nd Place will be featured in a 2013 episode of “Raw Diamonds”; the video series produced by the hip-hop collective SЁLA. Guest general admission is $5, and open to all ages.

▼ PERMITTED INSTRUMENTS ▲
Instrument types barred from competition will be turntables, sound-boards, and other related electronic devices. Permitted instruments include traditional ‘manual’ types; string, percussion, woodwind, etc. Amplified instruments are allowed; keyboards, electric guitars, etc.
▼ HOW TO APPLY ▲
Prospective contestants must e-mail SFrosty215@gmail.com by 11:59PM Wednesday, January 23rd. Subject: “The Instrumentalist”. The message *MUST* include a video presenting the applicant’s skill. — 8 applicants will be chosen as competition registrants. 2 others will be notified to attend as potential fill-ins, in case any registrant forfeits (i.e., absence).
▼ GUIDELINES FOR JUDGMENT▲
Judges’ ratings will range from “0” (worst score) to “10” (perfect score). The three judges’ scores will be averaged to determine a performer’s score for a given round. In example, a judgment of “8”, “7.5”, and “8.5” = 24. And, 24/3 = a score of “8” for the given round.

- Round 1: Each of the 8 contestants performs, one-by-one, then is rated.
- Round 2: The highest rated 4 contestants perform. one-by-one, then are rated.
- Round 3: The highest rated 2 contestants perform, one-by-one, then are rated.
