The L.O.T.S. In Your Future Showcase is an annual fundraiser for Life Outside The Streets Inc, a 501c3 non-profit organization.  We bring together a collection of artists from the Tri-State area to share HipHop, Neo-Soul, and Drama material that speaks to the issues we face as African Americans in the United States. Please come out and and enjoy some of the hidden jewels within the Tri-State area.

The proceeds will help us provide a platform for students to be discovered and share their talents in a similar showcase setting. This platform will also serve as a tool to encourage acceptable academic and behavioral achievement in the classroom; as well as allow students to develop transferrable marketable skills pertinent to establishing a career in music outside of artistry.

Andrew's Video Vault at The Rotunda

FREE Screenings Continuous From 8 PM on the Second THURSDAY of Every Month!

Since 2004, Andrew’s Video Vault is a free, once-a-month screening series at The Rotunda in West Philadelphia. Andrew’s Video Vault programs original, obscure, neglected, marginalized and commercially unavailable video media. It connects the West Philly neighborhood to the University of Pennsylvania community and fosters a multicultural examination of motion pictures in a relaxed, educational setting.

This program is made possible through the generous support of the Cinema Studies Program and The Rotunda at the University of Pennsylvania. This  project is supported in part by the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts program of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. Support also provided by PECO. This program is administered regionally by the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance.

JEFF – THE JEFFREY DAHMER FILES (2012/76 minutes) Chris James Thompson’s fascinating experimental documentary combines extensive interviews with one of Dahmer’s neighbors, the chief medical examiner on the case, and the case’s lead detective with re-enactments of some of the more mundane aspects of Dahmer’s life and crimes.

FÅRÖ DOCUMENT 1979 (1979/100 minutes) Documentary by Ingmar Bergman about his adopted home, the island of Fårö, where he filmed many of his best works and lived until the end of his life.

a concert series about hearing damage 

September 23, September 30, October 2, October 16 in the Sanctuary of The Rotunda

In 2008, composer Daniel Fishkin's ears started ringing, and they never stopped. Doctors offered no solace besides, "You get used to it." In the absence of a medical cure, Fishkin vowed to find a creative solution. "I do not want to get used to my hearing damage - I want to use it." 

Composing the Tinnitus Suites: 2016 is a concert series and sound installation that investigates the aesthetics of hearing damage. The series is anchored by the Lady's Harp - a system of 20-foot long piano wires activated by mixer feedback, using guitar pickups and pressure transducers to coax the strings into vibration. The Lady's Harp's buzzing strings create a forest of sound; as you walk around the room, the notes change along with your movements. The concerts are buoyed by conversations with neuroscientists and scholars who confront hearing loss or disability in their practice and personal lives. To make 'Tinnitus Music' is not just to compose sounds, but also to compose situations that can break the isolation of the experience of hearing damage. Composing the Tinnitus Suites is about listening to the way tinnitus makes one listen.

CONES, the solo show about vampires, vision loss, and ice cream, returns to The Rotunda for an afternoon! A blindfolded boy spills secrets about bright lights, bad cartoons, and learning how to be a vampire. But when a team of eye doctors, gym coaches, powerful sorcerers, and potential mates try to pry his eyes open, what will he see? The answer may be in the ice cream. And the ice cream will certainly be served in CONES.

CONES is written, designed and performed by Morgan FitzPatrick Andrews, co-created and directed by Mason Rosenthal. As visually impaired artists, Morgan and Mason made this show to start conversation about having low vision or other dis/abilities while passing as more able-bodied. CONES debuted at Philadelphia's 2015 SoLow Festival and recently toured to Vermont, the first of many stops on its impending tour of the U.S.

This event made possible by the New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
